北国风光，
千里冰封，
万里雪飘。
In a Northern country scene
Expansive land are enclaved by ice
and vast sky is full of whirling snow。
望长城内外，
惟余莽莽，
大河上下，
顿失滔滔。
Lo， in the areas along the Great Wall
Only the immense whiteness is seen
The rushing Yellow River suddenly
Loses its currents from the start to the end。
山舞银蛇，
原驰蜡象，
欲与天公试比高。
The mountains undulate like silvery snakes are dancing
While the field is so white as if wax elephants are galloping
Vying with the heaven for their own statures。
须晴日，
看红装素裹，
分外妖娆。
Viewing on a sunny day
All are clad in reddish white
Exceptionally enchanting。
江山如此多娇，
引无数英雄竞折腰。
Our land is so enriched by the scenery beauty
leading to the respectful bow of countless heroes。
惜秦皇汉武，
略输文采，
唐宗宋祖，
稍逊风骚。
Unfortunately, the Chin and Han emperors
Were less talented in literary aptitude
While the rulers in Tang and Sung dynasties
Showed less poetic elegance in their writing
一代天骄，
成吉思汗，
只识弯弓射大雕。
Moreover, Genghis Khan, a heavenly pride at his time
Only knew how to shoot eagles with his bending bow
俱往矣，
数风流人物，
还看今朝
O, all of them become the past
When reckoning brilliant heroes
We will include those of nowadays!
