说到表语，很多同学的第一反应：表语，很简单呀！就是be动词后面的内容嘛。中公考研告诉你，是，你回答的确实正确。但是除了这一些，你还只知道表语的什么内容呢？
首先大家需要知道一个知识点就是80%的主系表结构属于主谓宾结构，这也就意味着80%的表语属于宾语！所以做宾语的成分其实也可以做表语！那大家来想一想做宾语的成分有哪些？名词，代词，数词，v-ing ， to do还有句子。那这些成分可以做表语吗？咱们可以通过一些例句来看看这些词到底可不可以做表语？
- The human nose is an underrated tool。
分析：在这句话中，谓语是is， 主语是the human nose， 表语则是an underrated tool。 那这个an underrated tool 是不是一个名词短语呀即被低估的工具。所以名词可以做表语吧！
- The whole question is really this： have we essentially changed？
分析：在这句话中谓语还是is， 主语是the whole question， 表语是this。 那这个this 是一个代词，所以代词可以做表语。整句话的意思是：所有的问题就是这个：我们从本质上改变了吗？
- When the vote was finally taken， it was 3：45 in the morning。
分析：这句话中表语也很明显，逗号前面是一个when 引导的时间状语从句，里面的taken 是被动。主干部分是it was 3：45 in the morning， 在这个主干中it 为主语，was为谓语，表语是3：45即表语是数词，说明数词可做表语。
- The profession is taking steps to require young doctors to train in hospices。
分析：整句话的意思是：这个行业正在采取措施要求年轻的医生去济贫院训练。主语是the profession， 谓语是is， 表语是 taking steps to require young doctors to train in hospices，表语的形式是V-ing，所以v-ing可以做表语。
- The best strategy is to use the agent as a kind of tip service。
分析：在这句话中主语显而易见是the best strategy，谓语是is，表语则是to use the agent as a kind of tip service，to do 不定式做了表语。
- The fact is that most Americans are friendly，courteous， and helpful to them。
分析：主语是the fact， 谓语是is， 表语则是 that most Americans are friendly，courteous， and helpful to them。 这个表语跟我们前面几个例子不一样的是表语是一个句子了，即我们的表语从句。
- The official statistics are discouraging。
分析：这句话很简单，主语是the official statistics， 谓语是are， 表语是discouraging， 它是一个形容词，即形容词可以做表语。
- The government should stay out of the way。
分析：在这句话中主语很简单找是the government ； 谓语是should stay ， 不是前面的be 动词了， 这会是我们下节课要学的另外一种特殊的Be动词，这里的stay 是系动词，而表语是out of the way 。 则介词短语可以做表语。
