The University has a long history stretching back to 1861, when the Hull School of Art was founded. It emerged as the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside in 1996, when the Queen opened the new Lincoln Campus. September 2001 saw the institution renamed as the University of Lincoln - a university of quality and distinction.
The University has two main campuses in the North East of England; the main campus is situated in the historic cathedral city of Lincoln, whilst the other campus is in the city of Kingston upon Hull. Both cities can be reached by train from London in less than three hours.
